The Hydra-Kool KGL-OF-40-S Open Air Merchandiser
The Hydra-Kool KGL-OF-40-S is a 41-inch self-contained low profile open-front grab-and-go merchandiser with 12.98 cubic feet of front display capacity. Standing just under 60 inches tall, this case keeps sightlines clear in locations where a full-height merchandiser would block the view of a service counter or menu board. It fits along checkout lanes, in cafe corners, and beside registers where customers grab cold beverages, sandwiches, and packaged snacks. The case holds 36°F to 40°F, plugs into a standard 115V/5-20P outlet, and can be multiplexed with other KGL-OF units for longer runs.
Open Front with Pull-Down Night Curtain and Tempered Side Glass
The open front gives customers instant access to grab cold drinks, sandwiches, salads, and snacks without waiting for a door to open. When the store closes, a pull-down night curtain seals the display to hold temperature overnight and cut energy use. Tempered side glass panels let shoppers see product from the aisle, which helps draw attention to items they might not notice in a closed case. The low profile height makes this case a good fit for locations where sightlines matter, like in front of a service counter or along a checkout path where a taller case would block the view.
Forced Air Refrigeration with Slide-Out Condensing Unit and Digital Control
Forced air refrigeration circulates cold air evenly across the shelves, holding product between 36°F and 40°F from front to back. A digital controller handles temperature and defrost cycles, and a digital thermometer on the case lets you check conditions at a glance. The self-contained condensing unit slides out from the base for service, so a technician can clean coils or check the refrigerant charge without pulling the whole case away from the wall. A removable condensate evaporating pan collects moisture and lifts out easily for cleaning. The system uses R404a refrigerant and CFC-free injected foam insulation.
Height-Adjustable Tiltable Shelves with Product Stops and LED Lighting
Two adjustable shelves accommodate different product heights and can be tilted forward to angle items toward the customer for better visibility. Product stops on the shelves keep containers from sliding off the front edge when shoppers reach in. LED strips in the canopy and under each shelf light products from above and below, keeping labels readable and colors true across the full depth of the case. LEDs generate less heat than fluorescent tubes, which reduces the thermal load on the compressor and helps the case hold temperature more efficiently.
The KGL-OF-40-S measures 41" wide x 31.25" deep x 59.5" high and weighs 357 lbs. The exterior front panel is silver colored PVC coated steel, the interior is PVC coated steel in gray, and the end panels are foamed polystyrene in black with a black steel kick plate at the base. Cord and plug included (115V, NEMA 5-20P). Optional upgrades include stainless steel interior and exterior panels, additional shelves, a joining kit for multiplexing, price tag molding, partition dividers, and casters that add 4-3/8" to the overall height. Stainless steel adjustable legs (5-1/8" to 7-5/8") are also available.
