The Manitowoc IDT0900W-SPACE MAKER Modular Full Cube Ice Machine Head
The Manitowoc IDT0900W SpaceMaker is the tight-galley marine build of the Indigo NXT 850-class head, engineered for ships where every inch of galley wall counts: all utility connections route through the top panel, so the machine can sit in direct contact with the back and side walls. It produces up to 780 lb of dice ice per 24 hours at 70°F air and 50°F water and holds 665 lb at the 90°F rating point from a water-cooled condenser, with a front-facing evaporator that opens the food zone for cleaning without removing the top lid. An isolation switch cuts power to the whole unit, the cabinet is completely sealed, top and side panels stay removable even when fixed to the bulkhead, and the build meets USPHS marine sanitation specifications; vessels with room for standard service clearances can use the conventional IDT0900WM marine head instead. It is a head only, matched to the recommended SeaKing marine bin sold separately, and it installs on 208-230V single phase service with a 15 amp maximum fuse, top-entry 3/8 in. FPT water inlets, 1/2 in. drains, and just 2-3/4 in. of required back clearance.
Icon-Based Touch Screen with Programmable Ice Production
The head carries the standard Indigo NXT control set, fronted by the icon-based easyTouch display on an easy-access control panel, so galley crew can read operating status, start a cleaning mode, or check an alert without hunting for a manual. Programmable ice production is the money feature: schedule the machine off during peak generator load, cap it by daily production volume, or shift the work to night programming so the bin is full before the morning watch. An internal communication system continually monitors refrigeration and sub-system controls 24/7, and the controller registers accessories automatically as you add them.
Swing-Out Front Door with Removable Water-Path Components
Cleaning works around the bulkhead instead of against it: the front-facing evaporator opens the food zone for a complete clean without removing the top lid, and the top and side panels stay removable for service even when the machine is fixed to the bulkhead. Selected food-zone components are made with AlphaSan antimicrobial material that works between cleanings, and an optional LuminIce II inhibitor controls viruses and bacteria inside the machine. For routine care you can go hands-off entirely: the iAuCS accessory schedules and performs cleaning cycles automatically, Arctic Pure Plus water filters strip sediment and chlorine down to 0.5 microns ahead of the machine, and an external scoop holder keeps the scoop off the bin rim.
Acoustical Ice Sensing Probe with 24 Hour Intelligent Diagnostics
Manitowoc's patented acoustical ice sensing probe reads the harvest acoustically rather than by simple contact, which keeps cycles reliable in challenging water conditions that confuse conventional sensors. Active Sense software works in conjunction with that probe, adjusting so every harvest lands consistently as conditions drift across the day, anywhere in the machine's 40°F to 110°F ambient and 40°F to 90°F water operating limits. Intelligent diagnostics watch the machine around the clock and surface preventative maintenance and diagnostic feedback right on the display, so a service tech arrives already knowing what the machine has reported instead of starting the diagnosis from zero.
Sealed Marine Exterior with High Grade Stainless Steel Panels
The SpaceMaker shell is built to marine sanitation rules rather than kitchen cosmetics: the unit is completely sealed on the top, front, back, and sides, the exterior meets USPHS marine sanitation specifications, and an isolation switch immediately cuts power to the entire machine when the crew needs it dead. Because the water-cooled condenser rejects heat to the vessel's water rather than the galley air, the machine holds its rating in an enclosed space, using 135 gal of condenser water per 100 lb of ice on a loop rated to 276 psi. The refrigeration system runs R410A refrigerant in a hermetically sealed circuit with a 1,195.2 W machine rating on the 208-230V connection, so the head draws predictably from a vessel's power budget while the top-entry utilities keep every connection accessible from above.
