The Manitowoc K00465 UV Sanitation System
The Manitowoc K00465 is the field-installed LuminIce II growth inhibitor kit for 48 in. Indigo NXT, IB, and Dual QuietQube ice machines, built for operators fighting yeast, mold, and slime in a foodzone that never seems to stay clean between scheduled cleanings. The device mounts inside the machine and runs 24 hours a day whether ice is being made or not, passing foodzone air over a 254 nm UVC germicidal light and a 185 nm UVV light that together create Cold Oxygen Plasma, and independent lab testing showed noticeably cleaner foodzones after 2-1/2 months of use. Reduced slime buildup also speeds the regularly scheduled cleaning process, so each cleaning takes less labor and less machine downtime. This kit fits Indigo NXT IT1500 and IT1900, IB models IBF0620C, IBF0820C, and IBT1020C, and Dual models IF1400C and IF1800C; small and medium Indigo NXT machines take the K00464 kit, and NEO U-Series undercounters take the K00519. Factory-installed LuminIce II is also available on selected Indigo NXT models ordered with an X suffix. There is no separate power hookup or plumbing to run; the device mounts inside the machine, draws its electricity directly from the ice machine, and integrates with the easyTouch display once installed.
Dual UVC and UVV Germicidal Lights Create Cold Oxygen Plasma
Air from behind the evaporator passes a germicidal class 254 nm UVC light and is sterilized, then a 185 nm UVV light acts on the oxygen and water vapor in the air stream to create photo plasma. Cold Oxygen Plasma is a gas ionized by UVV light containing ions, free electrons, hydroxyl radicals, and ozone, each highly reactive with the microorganisms it encounters, and this active air recirculates continually within the foodzone to inhibit the growth of viruses, bacteria, and fungi.
Independent Lab Testing Confirms Reduced Yeast and Bacteria
An independent testing lab tracked average interior surface yeast counts and aerobic bacteria plate counts from installation through ten weeks, and machines running LuminIce II held visibly lower counts than machines without it. Foodservice operations often sit in challenging environments where preventing yeast, mold, and other microorganism contamination is difficult, and because the device defends the foodzone around the clock, protection continues overnight and through slow periods when the machine is not making ice.
Internal Mounting Powered Directly by the Ice Machine
The device is compact at 2.55 in. wide by 3.27 in. deep by 4.32 in. tall, mounts inside the Indigo NXT ice machine, and is powered by the machine's board, so it adds nothing to the install footprint and nothing to the outlet count behind the machine. The design is fully integrated with the easyTouch display, which carries a sanitation icon that shines blue during normal operation and turns red when the bulb needs attention, putting device status on the same screen operators already check.
One Annual UV Bulb Change and No Chemicals to Maintain
There are no chemicals to add or maintain; the only recommended upkeep is a simple UV bulb change once a year to keep effectiveness at its peak. The bulb measures 0.75 in. in diameter by 4.125 in. long and carries a shelf life of three years from its date of manufacture, so spares keep. The easyTouch sanitation icon changes from blue to red when it is time to change the bulb, and the K00528 high-intensity bulb kit is available for large machines or challenging conditions.
