The Omcan 44674 Chip Warmer
This Omcan countertop nacho warmer holds 10 pounds of tortilla chips hot, crisp, and on display for snack bars, concession stands, cafeterias, and buffet lines. It is a holding unit: 160 watts of heat keeps chips that are already made warm and ready to serve. The cabinet is 430 stainless steel with tempered glass panels on an aluminum pillar, and a mini flood lamp in the upper corner lights the chips so customers see a bright column of product. At 15.25 inches wide by 12.5 inches deep by 22.25 inches tall and 24 pounds, it sets up on any stable counter near a grounded outlet, drawing 1.3 amps on a 120 volt, NEMA 5-15 plug.
Ten Pounds of Chips in a Lighted Column
The warmer loads from the top: lift off the plastic lid and transfer chips by hand rather than pouring from the bag, which keeps crushed chips and crumbs out of the display. Keeping the unit at least two thirds full gives the best look. Heating strips in the bottom panel keep the chips warm, and the heat from the display lamp adds to the warming and keeps the air in the cabinet dry to prolong freshness. The 0.5 cubic foot column holds 10 pounds of chips.
430 Stainless Cabinet, Tempered Glass Panels
The cabinet body is 430 stainless steel and the viewing panels are tempered glass on an aluminum pillar. Clean the stainless with mild food safe dish soap and a damp sponge, keep abrasive cleaners, steel wool and scouring pads off both the stainless and the printed graphics on the door and glass, and use a food safe glass cleaner on the panels.
Rear Fold-Down Door and Aluminum Scoop
Staff serve from the fold-down door at the back using the aluminum scoop that comes with the unit, and the door stays shut between customers to keep the chips warm and fresh. Once a day, switch the unit off, let it cool for 15 minutes, scrape crumbs across the holes in the floor of the unit and empty the removable crumb drawer.
Plugs in Where the Line Forms
At 160 watts and 1.3 amps, the warmer runs on a grounded three-prong 120 volt outlet; do not run it on an extension cord or adapter. It is a freestanding design for a stable counter or table top, indoors only, with at least 10 inches of clearance from walls and other equipment and 12 inches of room above it for loading, and it should not be built into a cabinet or recessed area.
